About Us
WOMEN IN MOTION ... Conference for Women About Women, is the result of a midlife crisis. Its creator, Linda Ekins, found herself with an empty nest and loss of job description. Although she was busy in her profession as a registered nurse and involved with her husband, expanding family and church responsibilities she was still having difficulty adjusting to middle age. Through a series of life events, she realized that there were other women, of varied ages, experiencing many of the same life challenges she was. Women, whether they were single, newly married wives, mothers of active families or transitioning into middle age, were searching for a life filled with purpose, joy, and balance. As she pondered her dilemma of finding purpose, the idea of a women's conference started taking shape.
Linda wanted to create an arena where topics of interest to women, young and old, could be addressed and where wellness of Mind, Body and Spirit was important. She gathered a core committee around her. With the assistance of these talented and dedicated women, the Women in Motion Conference came to be.
In the six years since its inception Women in Motion has grown to an annual attendance of to close to 300 women. The conference has changed and enriched lives as the women have applied what they learned at the conference.
WOMEN IN MOTION CONFERENCE received national recognition in the article focusing on Hormone Replacement Therapy, February issue of O Magazine .
